About
Milliken Hill is a historic scenic hill and tourist attraction located in the Ngwo area of Enugu, Nigeria. It is widely known for its winding road with numerous sharp bends and dramatic elevation, often described as Nigeria’s “natural roller-coaster road.” The hill offers panoramic views of Enugu metropolis and surrounding valleys.
The hill became historically important during the early 1900s after coal was discovered in the area. Colonial engineers constructed the winding road in 1909 to access the coal mining region at Iva Valley, and the road was named after the engineer A. B. Milliken.
Today, the area is known for tourism activities such as sightseeing, hiking, picnicking, nature exploration, and scenic driving. Visitors often combine trips to Milliken Hill with nearby attractions like Ngwo Pine Forest and caves.
